The first degree in Freemasonry, where a Candidate is initiated into the oldest fraternity in the world.
The second degree in Freemasonry, where a Brother further expounds his knowledge and enlightenment, becoming more attuned with nature's development and human ingenuity of the great liberal arts and sciences.
The highest degree in Freemasonry, after which, a Brother becomes a full member of his Masonic Lodge and is entitled to all the rights and privileges of the Fraternity.
Freemasonry is a gentleman's fraternity - the oldest and largest such organization in the world - whose foundation is based upon the "fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man".
In order to become a member, a man must complete several steps:
1. A written application (Petition for Membership), and pay the applicable fees ("Initiation Fee" - $300.00)
2. Pass an investigation for membership, which includes a background check
3. Pass a unanimous vote by the members of the lodge
4. Progress through the degrees and education, which teaches our tenets and principles
5. Study the philosophies and teachings of the order and implement these to the best of your abilities

Pentalpha Lodge No. 564 is located in the heart of Indianapolis. We received our Charter from the Grand Lodge of Indiana, Free and Accepted Masons (F.&A.M.) in May 1882, and have been a pivotal lodge to the activities of Freemasonry in the Capitol City since that time.
Since 1909, we have held our meetings in the Composite Room on the 5th Floor of the Indianapolis Masonic Temple, or Indiana Freemasons Hall.
We share the same floor with the bountiful Grand Lodge Library & Museum, open to the public and is available for use by all Master Masons of our state.
We are the first Observant Lodge in the Indianapolis area, to work as such, and strive to provide a meaningful experience to all our members and guests.
If you are a Freemason, actively seeking an incredible lodge experience...
or, you are not a Mason, but have been yearning for a meaningful substance to your life by connecting with men of character assembled in a Lodge and geared towards improving ourselves and our communities...we may be the right fit for you, and encourage your inquiry.
Pentalpha Lodge is dedicated to the traditional purposes of FReemasonry, using several mehtods to achieve its goals, including:

Indiana Freemasonry has no "official" dress code, but at Pentalpha Lodge you will find the standard of dress to be coat and tie. We believe in Masonic etiquette and the improvement of a man.
If you have an Apron, please feel free to wear it, although our lodge will have aprons available for brethren.

As an observant Masonic lodge, we work hard to continually improve ourselves and our activities. We are, and continue to be, a 'living, breathing, lodge of Masons...' Therefore, we may have some lodge customs that you may not be used to but we hope you will enjoy your experience with us.
These activities are best experienced, not explained. So Mote It Be!

After our lodge has completed their necessary business or degree work for the evening, it is customary that many of our brethren retire to refreshment and fellowship to enjoy each others company and discuss our experiences. You are more than welcome to join us for this time, in a more relaxed atmosphere!
