PETITIONS

Freemasonry is a gentleman's fraternity - the oldest and largest such organization in the world - whose foundation is based upon the "fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man".

In order to become a member, a man must complete several steps:

1. A written application (Petition for Membership), and pay the applicable fees ("Initiation Fee" - $300.00)

2. Pass an investigation for membership, which includes a background check

3. Pass a unanimous vote by the members of the lodge

4. Progress through the degrees and education, which teaches our tenets and principles

5. Study the philosophies and teachings of the order and implement these to the best of your abilities

As one would suspect from such an influential and upstanding organization as Freemasonry, there are numerous lodges in the Indianapolis area. So, why Pentalpha Lodge? Well, we may be the perfect fit for you or we may not. Sometimes this is hard to tell simply by a friend's suggestion or by previewing our website. Just as the lodge needs to know you, so should you, get to know the lodge and its members. Some important items to know about our lodge are:

1. We meet on the 4th Thursdays (6 Meetings a year) + additional evenings for degrees and social events

2. Annual dues = $225.00 / Affiliation fee, for plural members - $25.00

3. Standard of dress = dark coat and tie

4. Interests of our members are numerous, but in-particular we strive on the following methods of Masonic practice:

  • Uniting Freemasons through friendship and harmony
  • Caring for, and supporting, our members, their widows, and orphans
  • Presenting Masonic lectures, education, discussions, and speakers when appropriate
  • Providing assistance to the Grand Lodge Library & Museum, on certain projects, as they become available
  • Maintaining a high standard of dress, etiquette, and decorum at our meetings
  • Providing a meal to break bread with our members and guests during the course of our evenings affairs
  • Promoting excellence in the manner in which we present our ceremonies
  • Excellent communications via multiple platforms, in a timely manner
  • Excellent presentation of the ritual and degree work of the fraternity, which encapsulates the essence and bonds of Freemasonry, unititing us as Brothers

Whether you are looking to join our lodge and the world's oldest fraternity, or you are already a Brother and have enjoyed your experiences at Pentalpha Lodge No. 564, F.&A.M., we are zealous to speak and meet with you to these regards! Please reach out to us: pentalpha564secretary@gmail.com

WHO WE ARE

Pentalpha Lodge No. 564 is located in the heart of Indianapolis. We received our Charter from the Grand Lodge of Indiana, Free and Accepted Masons (F.&A.M.) in May 1882, and have been a pivotal lodge to the activities of Freemasonry in the Capitol City since that time.

Since 1909, we have held our meetings in the Composite Room on the 5th Floor of the Indianapolis Masonic Temple, or Indiana Freemasons Hall.

We share the same floor with the bountiful Grand Lodge Library & Museum, open to the public and is available for use by all Master Masons of our state.

We are the first Observant Lodge in the Indianapolis area, to work as such, and strive to provide a meaningful experience to all our members and guests.

If you are a Freemason, actively seeking an incredible lodge experience...

or, you are not a Mason, but have been yearning for a meaningful substance to your life by connecting with men of character assembled in a Lodge and geared towards improving ourselves and our communities...we may be the right fit for you, and encourage your inquiry.

WHAT TO EXPECT

As an observant Masonic lodge, we work hard to continually improve ourselves and our activities. We are, and continue to be, a 'living, breathing, lodge of Masons...' Therefore, we may have some lodge customs that you may not be used to but we hope you will enjoy your experience with us.

These activities are best experienced, not explained. So Mote It Be!

FELLOWSHIP AND REFRESHMENT

After our lodge has completed their necessary business or degree work for the evening, it is customary that many of our brethren retire to refreshment and fellowship to enjoy each others company and discuss our experiences. You are more than welcome to join us for this time, in a more relaxed atmosphere!
